Angelina Jolie set to become latest celebrity to flee Donald Trump's America

Angelina Jolie is reportedly preparing for a major life change one she has been considering for years. With her twins, Vivienne and Knox, turning 18 this July, the actress may finally have the freedom to leave Los Angeles and spend more time living abroad.

Sources close to Jolie have previously shared that she never intended to stay in L.A. permanently but remained there because of custody arrangements following her highly publicized divorce from Brad Pitt. That situation changes once her twins reach adulthood on July 12, potentially clearing the way for her to relocate internationally.

According to reports, Jolie has been exploring options outside the United States and is expected to be “very happy” once she’s able to make the move. She has long spoken about wanting privacy, peace, and security for her family something she has suggested can be difficult to maintain in Los Angeles.

In a 2024 interview, Jolie reflected on raising a large family in the public eye, explaining that while she currently has a home where she can raise her children, she often feels more connected to the sense of humanity she has experienced in other parts of the world. She has indicated that her future will likely include spending significant time in Cambodia, as well as visiting family members in different countries.

Cambodia holds deep personal meaning for Jolie. In 2002, she adopted her first son, Maddox, from the country. She has said that her experiences there opened her eyes to global refugee issues and ultimately led her to work with the UNHCR. More personally, she has described feeling an immediate connection to Maddox even before meeting him, recalling a moment during a school visit when she sensed her future child was there.

Over the years, Jolie and Pitt expanded their family through both adoption and birth. In addition to Maddox, she adopted Zahara and Pax. The former couple also share three biological children: Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox. Jolie has consistently emphasized that adoption was never about image or charity, but about building a family. She has described it as a gift rather than a sacrifice and has said her goal has always been to give her children the kind of childhood she once wished for herself.

Her international outlook has also shaped her public comments about global affairs. While attending the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain, Jolie remarked that although she loves her country, she feels disconnected from its current direction. She has spoken about valuing unity and freedom of expression, warning against divisions that limit personal rights.

Jolie has previously voiced criticism of certain U.S. policies as well. In 2017, she wrote an opinion piece opposing the travel ban introduced during Donald Trump’s presidency, arguing that national security could be protected without broadly excluding people based on nationality or religion.

As her twins approach adulthood, it appears Jolie may soon begin the next chapter of her life one that reflects the global identity and humanitarian focus she has embraced for decades.
