Over the years, Donald Trump has faced repeated criticism for comments about women, including his own daughter, Ivanka Trump. Many of these statements have resurfaced in light of the Epstein Files, though the Justice Department has stated its investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Trump linked to Jeffrey Epstein found insufficient credible information to pursue further action.
Here’s a chronological look at some of the most widely discussed remarks about Ivanka:
1990s
At just 16, Ivanka co-hosted the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant in Texas, an event owned by her father. During the pageant, Miss Universe Brook Antoinette Mahealani Lee recalled in the New York Times that Trump asked, “Don’t you think my daughter’s hot? She’s hot, right?”
BuzzFeed later reported accounts from four contestants who said Trump entered the dressing room while underage participants were changing. Although none claimed he made sexually explicit remarks or attempted physical contact, Miss Vermont Teen USA Mariah Billado recalled feeling alarmed, thinking, “Oh my god, there’s a man in here,” and hearing him say, “Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before.”
Years later, recordings from Trump’s appearances on the Howard Stern Show surfaced, where he admitted to going backstage before shows, saying he was “inspecting” contestants and remarked, “And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”
2000s
In 2003, Trump appeared on The Howard Stern Show and described Ivanka as “one of the great beauties of the world… I helped create her. She’s 6 feet tall, she’s got the best body.” The following year, when Stern asked if he could call Ivanka “a piece of ass,” Trump replied, “Yeah.”
By 2006, Stern again commented on Ivanka’s appearance, suggesting she looked “more voluptuous than ever” and asked about breast implants. Trump denied it, emphasizing her height and beauty. Later, while promoting The Apprentice with Ivanka on The View, Trump was asked how he would react if she posed for Playboy. He replied that it would depend on the content but added, “Although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps, I would be dating her.” A spokesperson later said he was joking about dating younger women.
2010s
Trump and Ivanka appeared on the Wendy Williams Show, where Wendy asked Ivanka about her favorite thing in common with her father. Ivanka answered, “Either real estate or golf,” but Trump interjected, “Well, I was going to say sex, but I can’t relate that to her.”
In 2015, during his presidential campaign, Trump told Rolling Stone journalist Paul Solotaroff that Ivanka was “really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father…”
In 2016, reports emerged that a segment from the Dr. Oz Show had been cut, where Trump had mentioned kissing Ivanka whenever he could after the host called it “nice to see a dad kiss his daughter.”
Perhaps the most serious allegations came from Miles Taylor, former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security. In his book Blowback: A Warning to Save Democracy from the Next Trump, Taylor wrote that Trump allegedly spoke about Ivanka’s “breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her.” He also claimed former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly reportedly described Trump as “a very, very evil man” for these remarks.
Trump has consistently denied allegations of this nature.
