MAGA Uses Jill Biden To Defend Elon Musk Cabinet Appearance

MAGA Defends Elon Musk’s Cabinet Appearance, Comparing It to Jill Biden’s

Supporters of former President Donald Trump are defending Elon Musk’s presence at Trump’s first Cabinet meeting, drawing comparisons to First Lady Jill Biden’s previous attendance at her husband’s meetings.

During the meeting, Trump joked, “Is anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, we’ll throw him out of here,” receiving laughter and applause. However, Musk’s participation sparked backlash from critics who raised concerns over the unelected billionaire’s influence in government affairs.

Musk, through his advisory Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has gained access to internal data from multiple federal agencies, including the Labor Department, U.S. Treasury, and Small Business Administration. While Cabinet meetings typically include the President, Vice President, and heads of federal departments, outside individuals sometimes attend to provide expertise.

Following Musk’s attendance, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich commented on X: “Trump hosts the first full Cabinet meeting of his second term today—with noncabinet member Elon Musk in attendance. It’s yet another reminder of who the wealthiest administration in history actually serves: the billionaire class.”

Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen added, “Elon Musk spent $280 million to elect Donald Trump, and he's been handed access to government agencies, cabinet meetings, lucrative contracts, and Americans' private information. It’s billionaires rigging the game for billionaires—the most corrupt bargain in American history.”

Comparisons to Jill Biden’s Cabinet Appearance

MAGA supporters pushed back, pointing out that noncabinet members have attended such meetings before. Some posted videos of Jill Biden at a Cabinet meeting, questioning her presence.

One X user wrote: “Democrats: ‘Nobody elected Elon Musk!’ Here’s a photo of Jill Biden in a cabinet meeting. Democrats, who elected Jill Biden?”

In September, Jill Biden attended a Cabinet meeting to discuss the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. Sitting at the head of the table, she spoke for over four minutes after President Biden’s brief introduction. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton had also participated in a Cabinet meeting during Bill Clinton’s presidency.

At the time, Jill Biden’s involvement drew criticism. Trump’s former adviser Steve Cortes wrote on X: “Wow. A visibly exhausted Joe Biden just held a full Cabinet meeting for the first time in 11 months and immediately turned the mic over to his wife, Jill. Who is running the country?”

Podcaster Tim Young added: “Jill Biden is the head of the table at the cabinet meeting. No one voted for her to be there … this must be part of her deal to have Joe drop out of the race. She has no reason to be there.”

White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates defended her role, stating that she was there to highlight historic efforts in women’s health research. He dismissed criticism as politically motivated.

The Response

Trump addressed the controversy on Truth Social, writing: “ALL CABINET MEMBERS ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH ELON. The Media will see that at the Cabinet Meeting this morning!!!”

Conservative commentators also weighed in, highlighting what they viewed as hypocrisy.

Ian Jaeger posted: “Democrats: ‘Nobody elected Elon Musk!’ Here’s a photo of Jill Biden in a cabinet meeting. Democrats, who elected Jill Biden?”

The Media Research Center echoed the sentiment: “The Leftist Media: @elonmusk can’t be in a Cabinet meeting, he’s unelected. Also The Leftist Media: Isn’t it wonderful Jill Biden is leading this Cabinet meeting.”

As debate over Musk’s role continues, it remains unclear whether he will attend future Cabinet meetings.
