CNN halted as Donald Trump left totally embarrassed by 'reality check'

CNN’s data analyst Harry Enten recently delivered a reality check that cuts directly against Donald Trump’s latest claims about his popularity.

Trump has been insisting that his aggressive stance on foreign policy particularly the situation involving Iran has made him “more popular than ever.” But according to Enten, the numbers tell a very different story.

During a live segment, Enten pointed out that while Trump still holds strong support within his MAGA base, that backing doesn’t translate to the broader American public. In fact, when looking at national polling, Trump’s overall standing appears to be slipping rather than improving.

Citing a Fox News poll, Enten noted that Trump’s disapproval rating has climbed significantly from around 51% a year ago to roughly 59% now. And this isn’t an outlier. Across multiple polls, the pattern is consistent: rising disapproval and weakening approval numbers.

The situation looks even worse when Americans are asked specifically about Trump’s handling of Iran. According to the same polling, about 64% disapprove of how he’s managing the conflict, with only a minority expressing support. Early reactions to the situation were more evenly divided, but over time, opposition has clearly grown.

Enten summed it up bluntly: regardless of which poll you look at, most Americans are not on board with Trump’s approach to Iran even if his core supporters remain loyal.

Adding to the scrutiny, Trump also raised eyebrows during a recent fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C. While speaking about Iran, he made a series of unusual remarks suggesting that Iranian leaders supposedly wanted him to take on a top leadership role something he claimed to have declined.

The comments quickly circulated online, with many viewers expressing confusion and skepticism. Even some supporters appeared uneasy, with critics arguing that the remarks didn’t sound grounded in reality.

Taken together, the polling data and public reactions suggest a widening gap between Trump’s messaging and how it’s being received outside his most committed base.
