LBC delivers devastating blow to Donald Trump's 'big beautiful bill'

Andrew Marr recently addressed former President Donald Trump’s controversial new budget proposal, warning that it could have devastating consequences for America’s poorest communities.

The bill, which has already passed the House of Representatives and is now under Senate consideration, includes sweeping tax cuts for the wealthy and a sharp increase in defense spending. Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again voiced his strong opposition on Wednesday, urging Americans to contact their representatives and demand they “kill the bill.”

During a conversation on LBC with correspondent Simon Marks, Marr explained the potential impact of what some are calling Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill."

“This bill is massive, so it’s impossible to cover everything,” Marr said. “But in essence, it shifts about a trillion dollars in cuts away from programs that help the poor and redirects those funds to benefit the wealthiest Americans.”

He continued, “And with the extra spending included, it’s going to balloon the national debt. Some analysts fear it could even destabilize the entire economic system.”

Marks cited alarming figures from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), noting that the legislation would increase the federal deficit by $2.5 trillion. “It does this by punishing the most vulnerable people in society,” he said.

According to estimates, 10.9 million Americans would lose their health insurance coverage—many of whom currently rely on the Affordable Care Act. In addition, the bill would eliminate access to food stamps for approximately four million people, cutting off a vital resource for those struggling to afford basic necessities.

The bill has the full support of Donald Trump and, if passed, would become the centerpiece of his second-term legislative agenda.
