Barron Trump in shock career change as he launches unexpected new business

At just 19, Barron Trump is stepping out of the shadow of the White House to launch his own business. The youngest Trump child has founded Sollos Yerba Mate Inc, a company promoting what it calls the “drink of the Gods.”

Barron is officially one of five directors of this new yerba mate beverage company, alongside Spencer Bernstein, Rodolfo Castillo, Stephen Hall, and Valentino Gomez. The brand positions itself as a “clean-ingredient, functional lifestyle beverage”, aiming to appeal to health-conscious consumers.

According to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission documents reviewed by Newsweek, Barron has incorporated the business with $1 million in initial capital raised through a private placement. The company is registered in both Florida and Delaware and operates near the Trumps’ Mar-a-Lago estate.

Barron’s mother, Melania Trump, once shared that even as a child, he “wanted to be like daddy,” reflecting his early interest in following in his father’s business footsteps.

For those unfamiliar, yerba mate is a traditional South American beverage made from chopped leaves of the yerba mate plant. Despite its naturally bitter taste, the drink is praised for its high content of vitamins and minerals and is widely loved by athletes. Uruguayan soccer players, for example, are known to consume large quantities of the caffeine-rich leaves to fuel their World Cup performances.

Barron began his freshman year at New York University’s Stern School of Business in September 2024, a program recognized as one of the country’s top business schools. His father has previously described him as “a very high aptitude child,” noting that Barron is now stepping into adulthood with his own accomplishments.

This isn’t Barron’s first foray into business. In mid-2024, he briefly launched a real estate firm, though it was later dissolved due to his father’s second presidential campaign demanding more attention. Barron’s entrepreneurial drive echoes advice his father shared in The Art of the Deal: success in business requires proving yourself to the industry, the press, and even your own family.
