Kid Rock critics forced to 'block content' as singer boasts about latest career update

Kid Rock is back on the Billboard charts, but not everyone is celebrating.

The 55-year-old musician born Robert James Ritchie recently climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart with his rendition of Cody Johnson’s 2022 hit Til’ You Can’t. The track followed his performance at a pre-recorded Turning Point USA concert that was promoted as alternative programming to the Super Bowl halftime show.

According to Billboard’s February 21 chart update, the song debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. It also entered at No. 9 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, No. 14 on Hot Country Songs, and No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100.

While this marks a notable return to the upper ranks for Kid Rock, it’s not the highest he’s ever climbed on the Hot 100. His 2003 duet Picture with Sheryl Crow reached No. 4. Only God Knows Why peaked at No. 19 in 2000, and All Summer Long hit No. 23 in 2008. His first Hot 100 entry, Cowboy, reached No. 82 in 1999.

After the chart news broke, Kid Rock shared Billboard’s post highlighting his multi-chart debut. The publication noted that the wide-ranging entries across genres followed his February 8 performance, which helped boost attention during the tracking week.

However, the reaction online was far from unanimous praise.

Some social media users expressed frustration at seeing the coverage in their feeds, with a few questioning the enthusiasm surrounding the achievement. Others brought up controversial lyrics from his past catalog, while some compared his chart position to other artists currently performing strongly on the Hot 100.

As with many polarizing public figures, Kid Rock’s return to the charts has sparked both celebration among supporters and criticism from detractors — underscoring how chart success doesn’t always translate into universal approval.
