Melania Trump grits teeth as Donald breaks into 'unpresidential' act in front of soldiers

President Trump’s distinctive dance a quirky shuffle in which he waves his hands from side to side has drawn criticism even from First Lady Melania Trump. During a recent public appearance, Melania appeared reluctant as she joined her husband on the dance floor, gritting her teeth while moving alongside him.

Earlier, Trump himself admitted that Melania disapproved of his dancing. “My wife hates when I do this; she’s a very classy person,” he said. “She said it’s so unpresidential. She hates when I dance… but everybody wants me to dance.” Despite her disapproval, Trump has continued to perform his signature move on multiple occasions, most recently after honoring U.S. soldiers who captured former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

When the Trumps dance together, the contrast is noticeable. Trump waves his hands enthusiastically with a big smile, while Melania raises her arms more half-heartedly, appearing to lift something heavy rather than celebrating. The couple’s last joint dance in public was seen during last July’s Independence Day celebration, where supporters even chanted for a “third term.”

On Friday, Melania accompanied Trump on a trip to Fort Bragg, one of the largest military bases in the country, to meet military families. The president also highlighted recent economic data, noting that inflation had dropped to nearly a five-year low, citing slower apartment rental increases and declining gas prices. “The numbers were surprising, except to me they weren’t,” Trump said. “We have very modest inflation, which is what you want to have.”

In recent months, Trump has focused on visiting states important to the upcoming midterm elections, including stops in North Carolina. His administration has promoted policies aimed at lowering the cost of living amid growing public concern over affordability.

Trump’s Fort Bragg appearance also followed past events, including the Army’s 250th-anniversary celebration in June, which was overshadowed by controversial remarks he made about protesters in Los Angeles and his defense of military deployments there. His administration has since sent National Guard units to locations such as Washington, D.C., and Memphis, and carried out immigration-related operations. However, his border czar, Tom Homan, announced the end of operations in Minnesota that had led to the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens.
