Donald Trump sparked fresh concern over his health yesterday after seemingly nodding off during the inaugural meeting of his so-called “Board of Peace.”
Earlier in the day, Trump gave a speech in Georgia that left many viewers unsettled. Described by some as “sweaty and unwell,” he passionately defended his tariff policies, calling tariffs “my favourite word in the dictionary” and arguing they bolster American manufacturing. He also hinted at delaying action until the Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of his trade policy, blaming what he called “China-oriented” groups and Canadian interests for challenging it.
But it was his appearance, rather than his policy, that dominated attention online. Clips of the speech quickly went viral, with observers describing Trump as “sweaty and agitated” and delivering a rapid-fire stream of buzzwords to a mostly silent Georgia audience. One viewer wrote, “A sweaty, agitated Trump screams random buzz words and phrases in under a minute, while a stunned crowd listens in awkward silence. He is severely unwell.” Another added, “This is what it looks like when the script is gone and the man is just… noise. Buzzwords, grievances, bursts of rage looking for applause that doesn’t come.”
Social media users didn’t hold back. Comments ranged from “He definitely has the doctor cheat his physical health assessment every time” to “The only time he’s not dozing off is when he’s screaming about random s**t.”
The Georgia speech came just hours after Trump appeared to fall asleep during the first meeting of his “Board of Peace” in Washington, D.C. The gathering brought together world leaders and national delegations, and Trump’s body overseeing Gaza’s future which he has expanded into a broader internal body was touted by him as “the most consequential internal body in history.”
Viewers were quick to notice the President seemingly drifting off mid-meeting. One tweeted, “More than two hours into this ‘Board of Peace’ meeting, we are now enduring random world leader open mic time and Trump’s eyes are closed.” Others were even more blunt: “That man is fully asleep,” “Such an embarrassment. Make it stop,” and “He is board of peace.” The group Republicans Against Trump summed it up simply: “He is not well.”
