Donald Trump Impeachment Efforts Ramp Up

Efforts to impeach Donald Trump for a third time are intensifying as he begins his second term as president.

This renewed push reflects the ongoing political divide in the U.S. and the continued fallout from his past campaign. The non-partisan group Free Speech For People has initiated a new impeachment drive.

According to the organization behind the "Impeach Trump. Again" campaign, Trump's return to the White House represents a significant threat to the nation’s democracy. They argue that, under the 14th Amendment, Trump is disqualified from holding the presidency due to his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots. The amendment bars anyone who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution but then engages in insurrection from holding public office.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to the events of January 6. A ruling from the Supreme Court also established that former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution for actions considered part of their official duties, which has effectively stalled the case against him.

However, former special counsel Jack Smith’s report found enough evidence to pursue prosecution if Trump were not re-elected.

In addition to the Capitol riots, Free Speech For People accuses Trump of violating the Constitution’s emoluments clauses, which limit what gifts and titles federal officials may accept. The group claims Trump failed to divest his ownership in businesses that continue to benefit from foreign government payments, such as the Trump World Tower, which allegedly receives $2 million a month from five foreign governments.

The Trump Organization had previously announced that Trump would transfer daily management of his vast business empire to his children upon taking office. This arrangement was in place during his first term as well.

The impeachment campaign also includes allegations of campaign finance violations, such as offering tax and regulatory favors to oil and gas executives in exchange for $1 billion in contributions, concealing payments for legal services, coordinating with billionaire-funded super PACs, and accepting illegal contributions through schemes involving Elon Musk’s X platform and a lottery system.

Further, the group points to Trump's inflammatory rhetoric, including referring to immigrants as "bloodthirsty criminals," spreading false claims about Haitian immigrants, and making statements that blamed immigrants for crimes linked to their "genes." They also accuse him of threatening violence against political opponents, journalists, protesters, a U.S. military commander, and of spreading disinformation about hurricane disaster responses.

Trump was impeached twice during his first term—once in 2019 over his alleged attempt to pressure Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden, and again in January 2021 for his role in the Capitol riots. In both cases, the Senate acquitted him.

Could Trump face impeachment again? The removal of a president through impeachment remains an unlikely scenario, especially when one party controls both chambers of Congress. Currently, Republicans control both the House and Senate, making a third impeachment unlikely.

John Bonifaz, President of Free Speech For People, emphasized that Trump’s return to power poses an unprecedented threat to democracy. He stated that Trump engaged in unlawful conduct and threatened more violations of constitutional principles during his campaign and prior to his second inauguration.

However, impeachment remains unlikely while Republicans hold control of Congress. Yet, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon warned that if control of the House flips to Democrats after the 2026 midterms, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries could spearhead a new push for Trump’s impeachment. Bannon suggested that Jeffries would seek impeachment early in 2027, backed by significant funding from Democratic donors.

  1. Trump should have never been allowed to run in the first place according to the Constitution. He should be immediately be impeached! His lying right from the start is already playing a big role on his re- election, especially for those who need their medications. This whole election was a farce!

  2. He admitted on TV that Elon and his app helped him to "win" Pennsylvania and even thanked him,in front of everyone! There is video out there of a man on trumps side saying how glad he is Elon is on their side because Elon helped trump win,so the white house knows trump cheated to win,yet here we are, with him back in office! I no longer believe in the justice system, they did nothing to stop him!

    1. Why didn't the bigwigs I don't who stop him right then and there? There had to be something that could of been done. Don't tell me they didn't see this clip the same as you and I did. He should not be president now and never should have anyway because of J6 among many other things. If they can change the constitution to add a 3rd term for president then maybe it's time to make some changes in other amendments too.

    2. I have heard of 6 attempts on Trump's life. I will guess as many on Musk.

  3. Actually, I believe they brought him back for a couple reasons. First, they already know that he can't go through even a half day without doing something illegal or at least a bit sketchy. Second, what better way to keep an eye on the fox than to keep him in the hen house?

  8. I love how Trump kicks out hard working Mexicans and others who are filling the gap in the labor shortage in the U.S. And then expects Egypt and Jordan to take hundreds of thousands of displaced Gazans who have nothing!

  9. How in the hell to Trumpers, many of whom claim to be Christians, reconcile their faith with so much hatred and oppression of those most suffering. Jesus said whatever you do to the least of our brothers and sisters, you do unto me. You better hope there is not an after life, because none of you will make it to heaven.

  10. Trump says he wants to stay out of foreign entanglements, and then comes out with a proposal to take over Gaza. (And that he would not need to troops to do this!) I honestly think he does not see the contradiction. It is amazing how somebody could live so long and absorb absolutely nothing about the world. Also, that he will build a beautiful place where Gazans could live in terrific houses. He never says where these billions of dollars will come from, although not from the U.S. If you don't see how ridiculous that statement is, then you are the reason for the beginning of America's decline which started during the first Trump administration and been accelerated now that the dictator-wanna-be is back. Do you see why Trump loves uneducated people. He knows he can swindle such lame brains. Also, if you respect Trump, then does it bother you that even he thinks your stupid and ignorant which he stated on numerous times, we--documented, when he was walking off the state at his rallies.

  13. I am so tired of this bully boy/man and his rampage of chaos and destruction.
This will teach people, who didn't vote in this past election, what can happen. by the way, those of you who didn't vote have no room to complain! just make sure you vote next time and lets make sure there is a next time!
this orange clown and his dangerously evil buddy (Elon)are trying
to make us think this country belongs to them, instead of us. they are wrong, it belongs to the citizens of this country, no matter what color, religion, sex, political leaning. Think about it, do you want a king to control you or do you choose democracy, where you have a voice . This democracy is not perfect, speak up, not with violence but with your presence, your voices. be heard, and if you feel like you are not being heard then choose and vote for those who can support you and speak for you. Do you really think Trump is speaking for you when he threatens to take away benefits like Medicare, Medicaid, Fema, create tariffs that will raise prices more , not tax the very wealthy ( who also drive on our roads, cross the bridges, feel safe when that the infrastructures are safe, are helped when there is a disaster) but for sure , the everyday Joe is going to have their taxes raised. Would you like to see all the money, that these clowns are saying they will save by closing down our safety net , go to the billionaires and not helping the citizens in this country. Look at the reality, is you representative in the house or Senate, really fighting for you, or his or her, own power. If they don't totally kiss Trump's ring, they will be destroyed. Is that the kind of leader you want? What if you don't agree with him and you are an American, will he and his thugs come after you? This guy , Trump, is not stable and he's drunk on power. And, I never trust a drunk, because the addiction is stronger than anything or anybody else.

  14. He’s the only convicted felon I know of that was allowed to vote and hold office. All other convicted felons aren’t allowed to vote! He’s the only president that didn’t turn over his tax documents previous to running for president. Never has turned them to date. Instead of holding up the constitution he’s trying to change everything that makes America great. He’s acting like a dictator not someone who actually cares about our country & the people in it. I don’t trust a convicted felon who allows others to commit treasonous acts & released them from jail, a person that doesn’t pay his bills for merchandise or services he’s received, double talks, says one thing & does another, and continues try to tear our country apart!!

  15. Dear Friends in the USA,

I am an 80-year-old Englishman, and throughout my life, I have seen and experienced a great deal. I have always admired and respected the United States and its people, who have long stood as an example of democracy, resilience, and strength.

It is very sad to see your great nation now in the hands of what appears to be a dictator and his cohorts. The road ahead will be long and difficult, but I have faith in the American spirit and the determination of its people to stand up for what is right.

Please know that my thoughts, along with those of many around the world, are with you. I wish you all the very best in overcoming the challenges ahead.

    Good luck and best wishes.

  16. Trump couldn't lie straight in bed, impeach the odious bastard, he is doing so much damage. But as nobody in the USA has any strength, Trump will be there for the duration. You should have mandatory voting in the USA, like Australia and then you would get the true vote of the people. Your current system is pathetic. Get him out before he does any more damage!!!
