Melania Trump’s candid feelings towards her husband, Donald Trump, were seemingly revealed during an awkward dance at the Liberty Ball, according to a lip reader.
Freshly inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump celebrated his return to office with three inaugural balls alongside his family, marking his 2025 inauguration.
The evening began with the Commander-in-Chief Ball, which featured a military theme. The Trumps then attended the Liberty Ball, where the entire Trump family joined them on stage for a dance. The festivities concluded at Union Station with the Starlight Ball, following a grand motorcade procession.
At the Liberty Ball, the President and First Lady took to the stage for a dance set to the stirring notes of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Observers described the moment as tense and "awkward," as reported by the Irish Star.
Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman claimed that during the dance, Melania shared some revealing remarks with her husband. According to Freeman’s interpretation, she said, “Today is one we will never forget.” President Trump reportedly responded, “You’re right. I’ll learn, I’ll fight.”
Melania then offered what appeared to be an emotional affirmation, telling Trump, “I got you.” However, the conversation allegedly took a more pointed turn when Trump replied, “We’ll see. Will you control it? Less tricky, less pushing away?” to which Melania tersely responded, “It’s a no.” Trump is said to have acknowledged her words with, “I hear you.”
Earlier in the evening, the couple made a grand entrance at the Commander-in-Chief Ball, formally kicking off the celebrations. Their inaugural dance on stage drew considerable attention from onlookers.
Body language expert Mark Bowden observed that Melania appeared uncomfortable during the dance, even having to “support” her husband’s weight. “Trump’s unsteady posture left him leaning forward, while Melania managed to maintain a close yet precarious position,” Bowden noted.
Social media reactions to the dance were quick and critical. Greg Matt Travis commented on X: “Trump and Melania’s inaugural ball first dance was something else—a stiff, awkward shuffle that looked more like a hostage situation than a celebration. The man who promised to ‘Make America Great Again’ couldn’t even make a slow dance look convincing.”
