Moment furious Trump cuts off reporter live on air as he's grilled on 'corruption'

During the world premiere of Melania at the Trump-Kennedy Centre on January 29, US President Donald Trump had a tense exchange with a New York Times reporter. While walking the black carpet with his wife, Trump was asked about Amazon’s involvement in the documentary. The reporter questioned the $75 million reportedly spent by Amazon to produce and market the film, suggesting it could be seen as an attempt by Jeff Bezos to curry favor with the President.

Trump interrupted, asking, “Who are you with?” When the reporter identified The New York Times, Trump dismissed them as “fake news” and emphasized that he was not personally involved in the project. “That was done with my wife,” he said. He added that the film was significant, providing insight into life at the White House, and described it as “a big deal.”

The documentary, directed by Brett Ratner, is produced with Melania Trump’s participation and chronicles her life from the day of the 2025 Presidential Inauguration up to 20 days prior. It will stream on Amazon Prime Video starting January 20, reportedly under a $40 million licensing deal.

Melania Trump described the film as an unprecedented glimpse into a historically significant period in her life. She said, “History is set in motion during the 20 days before the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. For the first time, audiences worldwide can witness this pivotal chapter a private, unfiltered look at how I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my journey to becoming First Lady.” She emphasized that the project demanded the highest cinematic standards and meticulous attention to detail.

The film also marks the return of director Brett Ratner, who has not made a film since facing sexual misconduct allegations in 2017. Following support from President Trump, Ratner is also set to direct a fourth Rush Hour sequel, with Paramount handling distribution.

The premiere and Trump’s comments were broadcast live on Stinchfield Tonight, hosted by Grant Stinchfield, and are available across platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
