GB News halted for major Mandelson alert – and it's terrible news for Donald Trump

GB News interrupted its regular schedule with what it described as a major breaking development: the reported arrest of former UK ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson.

According to the broadcast, Mandelson was taken into custody on Monday (February 23) on suspicion of misconduct in public office connected to his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Footage aired during the segment appeared to show him being escorted from his home by plainclothes officers and driven away in an unmarked vehicle.

Presenter Bev Turner joined the program live from the U.S., where she said the arrest following that of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has fueled debate across American media. She described a growing sense of frustration among some commentators who question why, despite the release of Epstein-related documents, there have been no comparable high-profile arrests in the United States.

Turner noted that several U.S. broadcasters have drawn comparisons between the two countries, pointing out that the UK has made arrests while American authorities have not taken similar visible action. She suggested that this perception has led to criticism that the U.S. is moving more slowly on the issue.

She also referenced figures whose names have surfaced in connection with Epstein, including former Victoria’s Secret executive Les Wexner. Turner mentioned that members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee traveled to Ohio to interview Wexner, and that the discussions were publicly reported. She contrasted what she described as the U.S.’s more public congressional processes with the UK’s quieter investigative approach.

While some individuals have faced professional consequences such as stepping down from academic or board positions others named in media coverage have not been charged with crimes. In the U.S., several public figures linked in various ways to Epstein have denied wrongdoing, and no additional criminal charges have been announced in connection with the broader files.

Skye Roberts, brother of the late Virginia Giuffre, also weighed in on the contrast between the two countries. He argued that the UK appears to be taking more decisive steps and suggested that American leadership has yet to match that level of action.

As investigations and public scrutiny continue on both sides of the Atlantic, the handling of the Epstein case remains a source of political and media debate in both the UK and the United States.
