Lip reader exposes Donald and Melania Trump's Kennedy Center conversation

A lipreader has revealed the first words exchanged between President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as they arrived at the Kennedy Center for the opening night of Chicago in Washington, D.C.

The couple attended one of the final performances at the renowned venue before it closes for a two-year renovation in July. After news of the eye-watering cost of Melania’s outfit which was actually a recycled dress from a 2017 summit in Germany came out, attention has now turned to what the couple actually said to each other upon arrival.

Nicole Hickling of Lipreader Limited, speaking exclusively to the Irish Star, reported that the conversation between Donald and Melania appeared largely routine and procedural.

In one clip, Melania is seen saying, “It’s so nice to be here,” as she turned to wave at the crowd. At another moment, Donald leaned in toward her, seemingly responding to the noise of the cheering and booing audience.

“They’re loud,” he reportedly remarked. Melania, smiling, responded simply, “I know,” before breaking into a larger smile. Hickling noted that Donald’s gesture appeared to partially block her mouth during the brief exchange.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, representing OLBG, has observed that Melania’s smiles in public often appear less than genuine, especially in her husband’s presence.

“When she attends events alone, she seems more relaxed and authentic. But when she is with Donald Trump, her expressions are often masked,” Stanton explained. “She claps politely, but her face tells the real story. When she notices Donald and the audience watching, her smile becomes performative.”

He added that Melania likely feels compelled to present a brave front, despite her discomfort: “She is probably thinking, ‘Do I really have to go through this again?’ She is put in a role that doesn’t reflect who she truly is.”

This visit marked the couple’s first return to the Kennedy Center since January, when they attended the premiere of Melania Trump’s documentary, Melania. It is expected to be their final visit before the venue closes for renovations in July.
