Melania Trump reveals first look into King Charles' state banquet at White House

First Lady Melania Trump shared a short behind-the-scenes video previewing preparations for King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s upcoming state visit to the United States in April.

The 14-second clip, presented in black and white with soft orchestral music, features a series of polished visuals: the presidential seal, floral arrangements, White House staff coordinating logistics, and chefs working in the kitchen. The caption reads, “Precision in every detail,” along with the date April 28, 2026.

The visit follows the Trumps’ own trip to Windsor Castle last September and has been described by Buckingham Palace as a significant diplomatic moment. Officials confirmed that the King and Queen will travel to the U.S. in the final week of April. As part of the broader itinerary, King Charles will also make a solo visit to Bermuda his first official trip there as monarch.

During their stay in Washington, the royal couple is expected to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, attend a formal state dinner at the White House, and participate in a range of ceremonial events. King Charles is also scheduled to address Congress.

The announcement comes despite recent tensions between the U.S. and the U.K. over foreign policy, particularly regarding the situation in Iran. In recent weeks, Donald Trump has openly criticized the British government’s stance, even taking aim at Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the U.K.’s military capabilities. Still, the palace’s statement emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties between the two nations.

“On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of the President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America,” the statement said. It added that the visit would highlight both the long-standing relationship and modern partnership between the two countries.

Shortly after the announcement, Trump confirmed the visit on social media, noting that it will take place from April 27 to April 30 and will include a formal banquet at the White House on April 28. He described the occasion as “historic” and said he looks forward to meeting the King, calling it a “terrific” opportunity to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

The trip will mark King Charles III’s first visit to the United States since ascending the throne, and the first state visit by a British monarch in nearly two decades, following Queen Elizabeth II’s 2007 visit.
