Melania Trump’s Connections in Newly Released Epstein Files

Recently released documents connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case have renewed attention on previously undisclosed communications involving Melania Trump and Ghislaine Maxwell. While the material does not establish criminal wrongdoing by Melania Trump, it does confirm social contact that many people were previously unaware of.

One email dated 2002 shows Melania writing warmly to Ghislaine Maxwell after a New York Magazine profile of Jeffrey Epstein was published. In the message, Melania complimented Maxwell’s appearance in the article and referenced Epstein directly, writing that it was a “nice story” and noting that Maxwell “looked great” in the accompanying photo.

The email continues with friendly small talk, mentioning travel plans, Palm Beach, and a desire to connect once Maxwell returned to New York. Melania signed the message with “Love,” indicating a personal familiarity rather than a purely formal acquaintance. This correspondence occurred before Melania married Donald Trump, at a time when they were still dating.

Maxwell’s response, also included in the file release, reflects a similarly friendly tone. She referred to Melania by a nickname (“Sweet pea”) and explained that her travel schedule had changed, limiting her availability to meet, though she said she would try to call.

Another document from the same file release references Melania in a separate email sent to Jeffrey Epstein the day after the 2016 presidential election. The sender’s identity has been redacted. In that message, the individual recalled flying with Donald Trump years earlier and described Trump’s reaction upon meeting Melania for the first time.

Journalist Michael Wolff has previously reported that Trump met Melania in 1998 through Paolo Zampolli, the founder of ID Models. Zampolli has been publicly documented as having social connections within Epstein and Maxwell’s circle. Wolff has also claimed that Melania was familiar with that social environment.

Some commentators have speculated about whether Epstein played a role in introducing Melania to Trump or in her early modeling career. It is important to emphasize that this remains speculation, not established fact.

What is clear from the documents is that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were not distant or incidental figures in Donald Trump’s social world during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
