CNN fans 'unsettled' over Donald Trump's 'creepy' kissing story

Viewers expressed concern after President Donald Trump shared an unusual story during a press conference.

During a live broadcast, CNN cut to Trump recounting an encounter with Andrew Seville, president of Kusa Steel in Rome, Georgia. According to Trump, Seville allegedly expressed a desire to kiss him, leaving some viewers feeling uneasy.

Trump, 79, described the moment while highlighting Seville’s influence in the steel industry. “We were in Georgia, and I made a speech at a factory that makes steel products. I said, ‘How are you, nice to meet you, how’s business?’” Trump recalled. He then claimed Seville responded, “President, I’d love to kiss you.” Trump added: “This is a very powerful man. I don’t want to be kissed by that man. But he’s very powerful, strong, and has been in the steel business for many years.”

Trump continued, saying Seville allegedly persisted: “Sir, I want to kiss you so bad,” to which he replied, “No, thank you.”

Social media reactions were mixed. Some viewers described the anecdote as unsettling. On X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote, “The way he retells this moment makes it sound more bizarre than flattering. The repeated insistence to kiss him, paired with Trump’s awkward refusal, gives it a creepy, almost surreal vibe.” Another said, “Just when you think he couldn’t get any creepier, he says this,” while a third commented, “He makes my skin crawl.”

However, Trump also received defenders online. One user noted, “The man was thrilled because his business had improved after being able to raise steel prices. That’s something that benefits American consumers!” Another added, “Say what you will, he’s a funny guy,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle defended the President’s story, stating, “It’s no secret that President Trump is one of the most loved and admired figures in American politics, so it shouldn’t be surprising that people want to show their appreciation for him.”
