GB News halted for breaking update - and it's terrible news for Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has reacted furiously to a Supreme Court decision that struck down his global tariffs, calling the ruling a “disgrace.”

During a segment on GB News, White House reporter Julia Manchester discussed the implications of the ruling. She noted that Trump’s tariffs have been central to his economic agenda, and the president’s frustration was evident during his campaign stop in Rome, Georgia, where he openly vented about the delays in the court’s decision. Manchester said, “If you are Donald Trump, it’s understandable why this is upsetting. Tariffs have been a cornerstone of his economic strategy.”

When asked about what could happen next, Manchester explained that, in theory, Trump might attempt to push through more tariffs. However, she also highlighted a key obstacle: “There isn’t complete unity within the Republican Party on this issue. I imagine some Republicans, perhaps privately, may actually feel relieved by this ruling.”

The Supreme Court’s decision, issued on Friday, determined that Trump exceeded his authority by imposing broad tariffs under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which is meant for national emergencies. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the administration “points to no statute” granting the president the power to unilaterally set tariffs of unlimited scope, amount, or duration. He added, “IEEPA does not authorize the president to impose tariffs.”

It’s important to note that this ruling does not affect tariffs Trump placed specifically on steel, aluminum, and certain other products. Separate investigations that could lead to additional targeted tariffs are still ongoing, leaving the door open for further economic actions.
