President Donald Trump shared a significant update about the proposed construction of a large new ballroom at the White House, announcing the news directly on his Truth Social account.
In his post, Trump said a judge had dismissed a legal effort aimed at halting the project. He described the planned ballroom as one of the most beautiful in the world and emphasized that it would be funded entirely by private donors, not taxpayer dollars. According to Trump, the project is moving ahead of schedule and remains under budget. He also noted that the ballroom is expected to host future inaugurations and major state events, calling it a lasting symbol of American greatness.
The legal challenge came from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which filed a lawsuit in December seeking to block construction. The organization requested a preliminary injunction, arguing that the administration was proceeding without following required procedures.
As reported by CNN, the group claimed the project had not received approval from Congress and had not been submitted for review to the National Capital Planning Commission or the Commission of Fine Arts. Those reviews, the trust argued, would have allowed for public input.
The organization relied on the Administrative Procedure Act in its attempt to stop the project. However, the judge ruled that this law was not the appropriate mechanism for the challenge. In the decision, the court determined that the White House offices overseeing the ballroom’s construction are not federal agencies subject to restrictions under that statute, leading to the dismissal of the case.
