Trump drops major Nancy Guthrie bombshell as he declares 'big clue' coming soon

President Donald Trump said Friday that federal investigators may be close to a major breakthrough in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1 after she failed to attend her regular Sunday church service, something her family said was highly unusual. Concern quickly spread as days passed without any contact.

Investigators searching her Tucson home a property valued at approximately $1 million found blood near the front entrance along with signs of forced entry. Based on the evidence, authorities believe she may have been taken from her home against her will rather than leaving voluntarily.

Trump’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny over his recent public statements and behavior. In recent days, he has made bold claims about his own longevity, insisting he’ll “make it to 100,” while major networks have repeatedly cut away from live coverage during controversial moments, including when CNN halted programming for breaking Trump news. At the same time, ongoing debate has resurfaced around growing concerns about Trump’s health and cognitive sharpness.

Her last confirmed contact was the evening before her disappearance, when she had dinner with her daughter Annie Guthrie and son-in-law Tommasco Cioni, who reportedly drove her home afterward.

Since the case became public, two ransom messages have been sent to media outlets. The most recent arrived just hours before law enforcement seized Nancy Guthrie’s vehicle and surveillance equipment from her home. The initial ransom demand reportedly asked for $1 million in Bitcoin in exchange for her safe return, with a deadline set for February 9.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said federal agencies involved in the case may soon release meaningful updates.

“I think we are doing very well,” he said. “Very well meaning we have some clues that I think are very strong, and I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon.”

He added that investigators were moving beyond a basic search effort. “I’m not talking about a search. I’m talking about a solution,” Trump said, suggesting that new information from the Department of Justice or the FBI could emerge in the near future.

When asked whether authorities had identified a possible person of interest, Trump responded that developments had occurred recently and could become “definitive.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also addressed the case on Friday, stating that investigators are operating under the belief that Nancy Guthrie is still alive.

“My belief is that Nancy was removed from her home against her will, and that we need to find her,” Nanos said. “Until physical evidence tells me otherwise, I have to believe she’s alive.”

Family members have stressed that time is critical due to Nancy Guthrie’s health. She reportedly relies on a pacemaker, has limited mobility, and requires daily medication.

“She lives in constant pain,” Savannah Guthrie shared in an emotional Instagram post earlier this week. “She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer.”
